The touching and empowering movie; Hidden Figures, proved to be more than successful as joy spread across the stage and filled the auditorium, at last night’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

Based on a true story about 3 African- American women who aided NASA in their space race in the 60s, the brilliant minds of Katherine G Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson; played by Taraji P Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe; used science and maths to provide invaluable contributions- that almost went unnoticed. But thanks to the above actresses, these inspirational women’s story has been told and it is hidden no more! Triumphing, the Hidden Figures’ cast won SAG Award for outstanding performance/ ensemble in a motion picture! If you’ve seen the uplifting movie, you will understand why and if not (yet), I highly recommend watching it as soon as possible! It will make you feel slightly uncomfortable at times (as you watched what generations before us went through), but it will also make you laugh, cry, high-five the air and appalled with sheer happiness.

With melanin popping and everything on fleek, Henson, Spencer and Monáe were certainly slaying- before, during and after yesterday’s awards ceremony; and quite frankly, I cannot get enough! Can you?

When fashion is inspired by art and art is inspired by fashion; its just one big cycle; and it will continue to go around, then come back round again!

A contributor to the De Stijl art movement, Piet Mondrian was (and still is today), known for his abstract compositions of primary colours (red, blue and yellow) in a black grid of vertical and horizontal lines, against a white background; Mondrian !

His classic compositions were also used as backdrops in the fashion industry, before taking the catwalk in 1965 in the form of an A-line shift dress by Yves Saint Laurent. This iconic “Mondrian dress” was debuted in the Autumn/Winter ’65 season in both a jersey and wool knee length style shift dress.

Since then, similar dresses and other garments alike have been re-inspired and reproduced. Some taking the runway like the infamous YSL piece and others straight to high-street stores or street fashion.

imageAs November hits, the birthday season commences, celebrations begin and festivities await. As well as my birthday, my sister’s and many other friends and family’s birthdays approaching, The F Word also celebrates as it turns 2!

I started “The F Word” just a few days after my 21st and even fewer days after buying my first pair of Louboutins, because I was so inspired and enthused to share my little slice of luxury with the cyber world. Since then The F Word has travelled to an array of destinations including; Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, New York, Thailand and Malaysia. From urban cities, various Fashion weeks and original art exhibitions to rural landscapes, authentic finds and cultural markets as well as beautiful coastlines, paradise on earth and Mother Nature at her finest; The F Word has certainly seen it’s fair share and as a result, has published some versatile posts over the past 2 years. Featuring fashion, art, food, travel and my obsession with Marc Jacobs through images, videos and creative graphics, The F Word now has 6 pages, 132 posts (and counting) and has reached thousands all over the globe.

Untill another 365 days go by, here’s to The F Word. And yes, that’s cake 🙂 . Shoutout to my amazing Aunty for making it, as always I loved it. Thank you! She literally caters to my Marc Jacobs addiction. Can’t wait til next year! #cakecakecake

From an architectural vision to a tinie-tiny little pop-up store, my degree is complete.

I never thought of myself as an architect (still don’t) but having watched enough ‘Grand Designs’ i became inspired. So when the opportunity arose at Uni to work on an individual self-guided project, I decided to put my efforts into a pop-up store design, instead an yet another range plan or garment; for the high-street fashion retailer COS.

Simple and Sophisticated, the pop-up store is a reflection of the COS brand, designed with inspirations from art, architecture and graphics.
